BOSTON - A Boston University student was killed and 15 others were injured Sunday in a house fire in the city's Allston neighborhood.

Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald said the fire at the 2-1/2- story wood frame house was reported at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

MacDonald said none of the injuries to firefighters or residents were life-threatening and all firefighters were treated and released. Some of the residents remained hospitalized late Sunday afternoon.

In a letter sent Sunday evening to BU students and staff, university President Robert A. Brown said BU is providing housing and other support to those students who have been dislocated.

"This tragedy comes close on the heels of the Boston Marathon losses, which have so affected our community," he wrote. "We are working to marshal counseling and support resources for all those touched by the fire while continuing to meet the needs of others who have been affected by the Marathon bombings."

Lu Lingzi, a 23-year-old graduate student at Boston University, was one of three people killed during the attack April 15. More than 260 were wounded.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined and the identity of the victim who died has not been released.
